When we discuss Youth Week in Cameroon, we are referring to more than just a celebration. Youth Week is a special national period that culminates on February 11th, National Youth Day. It is a time when young people reflect on their role in building the country. Schools organise activities that help students understand leadership, responsibility, unity, culture, and patriotism.
In 2026, the theme was: “Youth at the Heart of Great Hopes, For a United, Stable and Prosperous Cameroon.” This theme reminded every young person that the future of Cameroon is not somewhere far away. It is in the hands of today’s students.
At HOBEC, Youth Week 2026 was not just observed — it was fully experienced.
Interclass Football Competition: More Than Just a Game
Sports played a big role during the 2026 Youth Week at HOBEC. The interclass football competition brought energy and excitement to the campus. Every class formed a team, trained hard, and competed with passion.
But this was not just about scoring goals.
The football competition taught teamwork, strategy, discipline, and leadership. Students learned how to win with humility and lose with dignity.
In real life, teamwork matters. Whether in business, school, or leadership, knowing how to work with others is a skill every young person must develop. Youth Week made that lesson practical.
Student Stands: Young Entrepreneurs in Action
Another exciting part of Youth Week 2026 was the student stands. Different groups of students set up stands where they sold various items. From snacks to handmade items and creative products, the campus felt like a mini trade fair.
This activity helped students understand basic entrepreneurship. They learned how to:
Attract customers
Present their products
Calculate profit
Work as a team
At HOBEC, education goes beyond the classroom. Youth Week gave students a real-life experience of business and creativity.
Talent Showcase during our HOBEC 2026 youth week: Music, Drama, and Creativity
Youth Week 2026 also highlighted student talents. There were music performances, drama presentations, spoken word, and creative displays.
Some students who are usually quiet in class came alive on stage. Others demonstrated leadership skills while organising performances.
Talent development is one of HOBEC’s core values. Youth Week became a platform where hidden gifts were discovered and celebrated.
Cultural Parade and Traditional Dances
Cameroon is often called “Africa in miniature” because of its rich cultural diversity. During Youth Week at HOBEC, students proudly displayed this diversity through cultural parades and traditional dances.
Different regions of Cameroon were represented. Students wore traditional outfits and performed cultural dances that celebrated our heritage. It was colourful, lively, and educational.
Understanding your culture builds identity. And when young people know where they come from, they grow up confident about where they are going. Get more images on this event

Exhibition of Meals from Different Regions
One of the most enjoyable activities was the food exhibition. Students presented meals from various regions of Cameroon. From local delicacies to traditional dishes, the event allowed everyone to taste and learn.
This was not just about eating. It was about discovering the history and meaning behind each meal. Food tells a story. Through this activity, students learned respect for diversity and appreciation for unity.

Prize Award Ceremony: Celebrating Excellence
At the end of the activities, prizes were awarded to the best students in each category. The founder of the school personally handed over the awards.
This moment was powerful.
When students see their efforts recognised, they become more motivated. Excellence was celebrated publicly. Discipline, creativity, leadership, and teamwork were rewarded.
This teaches a simple but important lesson: hard work pays.
A Proud March Past for National Youth Day
One of the most emotional moments of the week was the March Past on February 11th. Our students proudly represented the school in front of the public. Dressed neatly, standing tall, and marching in unity, they showed discipline, confidence, and love for their country.
For many students, it was not just about marching. It was about representing their school, their families, and their future. You could see the pride in their eyes. That is what Youth Week is about — building strong, confident young Cameroonians.
Why Youth Week Matters More Than Ever
Youth Week 2026 at HOBEC showed that young people are not just leaders of tomorrow — they are leaders in training today.
In a country that desires unity, stability, and prosperity, youth must be equipped with:
Confidence
Cultural awareness
Entrepreneurial mindset
Team spirit
That is exactly what Youth Week provided.
Beyond the fun and celebration, it was a week of learning, growth, and nation-building.
